Social Media for Travel Agencies: Turning Scrolls into Enquiries

Travel is the easiest thing in the world to make look good and one of the hardest to sell from a feed. Plenty of agencies have beautiful grids and silent inboxes. The gap is rarely the pictures — it’s that nothing on the page tells a viewer why they should book through you, or how.

Pick platforms by traveller, not by habit

Instagram and TikTok are where people collect ideas, and both now work like search engines for “where should we go”. Facebook still matters for families and older travellers, and its groups are full of people asking for recommendations. LinkedIn is worth the effort if you handle corporate or group travel. Two platforms done properly beat five done occasionally.

Short video does the heavy lifting

A reel can show what a paragraph can’t: the view from the balcony, the walk from the room to the beach, the food. You don’t need a film crew in every destination. Supplier footage re-edited with your own voice, clips from client trips shared with permission, and your consultants on camera answering one question at a time will carry most of a content calendar.

Put your people on screen

Anyone can post a sunset. Only you can post the consultant who has stayed in the hotel and can say which room category to avoid. Faces and names are what separate an agency from a booking engine, and they’re the reason a viewer sends a message instead of opening another tab.

Let clients do the convincing

Travellers trust other travellers. Ask clients for photos and a line about their trip when they’re home and still glowing, and build that request into your process so it happens every time. Reviews and client content are also your strongest answer to “is this company legitimate?”

Give every post a next step

Likes don’t pay commission. Each post should make one action easy: send a message, tap through to a specific trip page, or save a guide for later. Quick replies matter just as much — an enquiry answered within the hour is far more likely to become a booking than one answered tomorrow.

Creators, used carefully

A well-chosen creator with a relevant audience can put a destination in front of exactly the right people. It only works with a clear brief, a written agreement, properly labelled ads and a way to track what came of it. A big follower count on its own tells you very little.

Measure what matters

Reach is a starting point, not a result. The numbers worth watching are saves and shares, profile visits, clicks through to your site, and above all the enquiries and bookings you can trace back to social. If a report can’t connect content to enquiries, it isn’t telling you much.
